  • A handy little machine

For me, as a model maker, this Unimat 6 in 1 is, for the price, six machines, apart from the space-saving aspect, what combinations I have tried so far the results have been excellent.

  • Stay away from it for your own good!

Unfortunately no pro for this "tool" Just about totally useless, time wasting contraption. Flimsy design, no accurate control of any function, something like was made in East... in the '70s, today they don't make a junk like this one. I cant even sell it for anything because I don't want to be hated by the future owner. However it looks cool on a desk or shelf as a conversation starter. And that's all what will happen.

  • Not a toy - just a limited tool

People who this is a toy are completely wrong. It is a great tool within its limitations. I have been a luthier for about 30 years, and I use this tool extensively to mill slots in guitar bridges, drill holes, turn lute and guitar pegs and drill and mill harpsichord jacks. It works fine as long as you use it on wood, brass or plastic. You can’t handle steel with this, but then you shouldn’t expect to. In summary, it is one of the best tools I have for luthierie and other hobby activities.

  • It's a toy

It would be sad if anyone bought one of these actually expecting to do anything useful with it, as they'll be extremely disappointed. I had one for a short while, so have hands-on experience. Yes, it can be assembled as in the photos, and if it were to be properly engineered, it would be very useful. Unfortunately, it's not at all well made. The individual sections of aluminium extrusion are sort of clamped together by nasty bits of plastic with a screw inside them, giving no alignment or rigidity whatsoever. The slides are also plastic, which either jerk or are too loose to give any control to the toolbit. The "headstock" has almost no power. These things are probably available secondhand in excellent condition - people will have bought them, assembled them once, found they didn't work ...
