I remember watching Tripping The Rift on Scifi Channel. A most irreverent and funny cartoon. Definitely not for the kids. The movie should be just as good, which is why I bought it. I am looking forward to seeing it.

"Tripping The Rift" is a Science Fiction CGI film comedy series, that was on the Sci- Fi cable television channel, for a three year run. It engages in parodies and spoofs of movie films and television, from Star Trek to Star Wars and 2001 A Space Odyssey, Adam 12, Logan's Run, just to name a few of the movies and televison movies that were spoofed. The main characters are "Captain Chode McBlob" (voiced by Stephan Root)(a short purple with lime green spots alien looking, four armed tenacled, three eyed, type alien species), "Gus the robot engineer" (voiced by Maurice LaMarche)(a gold colored robot with a very unique shape and voice pattern), "Bob the spaceship" Named "Jupiter 42" (voiced by John Melendez)(of Howard Stern fame), "Six of Nine the science officer" (season one - Gina Gershon)(season two - Carmen Electra)(season three - Jenny MacCarthy) A Humaniod Android, "TNuk Layor the pilot" (voiced by Gayle Garfinkle) a very ugly (Just think a talking ox but a very, very ugly talking ox, with four arms and bad acne), and to round it all off "Whip is the ship's foreman" (voiced by Rick Jones) a green reptilian humuniod looking teen aged alien,Including a repeating cast of misfits and Federation Officers such as "Darph Bobo the supreme dark clown" (voiced by Terrace Scammell), "Captain Adam of the Confederation Fleet" (voice by Stephan Root) Along with his son Adam 12. These are the far out zany outerspace exploits and crazy and wild adventures of the crew of Jupiter 42, as they space travel through the universe, and getting into hilarious and troublesome treks in each episode in outer space. And along the way they come across every known alien species and then some. Only Six is human looking but she is a android. Gus ia a gold finished robot. Captain Chode is a small three eyed purple alien with four rounded tentacles on his head, and lime green spots on his body. Whip is a green reptilian looking humanoid and a teenager. TNuk is a two armed quadrupedal alien with such a grotesque appearance but to her she is beautiful beyond belief. To watch these zany wild and crazy episodes will make you laugh all night long. And you will see alot of the parody that they get their sources from, such as Deep Space Nine, Star Trek, Star Wars, Roswell, Lost in Space, Logan's Run, Adam 12, Footloose, I am Robot, the News topics, just to name a few of them. In the opening sequence Gus has a vacuum cleaner, that looks a lot like R2D2 from Star Wars, and Whip is flying around a radio controlled Star Trek Enterprise, and as the camera rolls around you see the back of TNuk's chair that looks like the monolith from 2001 A Space Odessey. A fantastic CGI animated series, with loads of great fun, and lots of laughs, all throughout the films. The first season 13 episodes and the second season 13 episodes plus a movie are availible. Season three had 13 episodes. Enjoy, I do, they are a outerspace blast of laughs.Season Four was put on hold at this time, but lots of people really enjoyed this spoof on lots of movies and televison shows. I really hope to see Season Four in the near future. Really fun shows, that were very original and unique in its own way of thought through comedy.Read full review
It's a relief to finally get something from this series without the beeps, it's much funnier unrated, but there is a scene that is censored, why put the scene in if they're going to censor it? It's just a cartoon after all… I would have enjoyed the series more if they were unrated too but at least we have this.

I am a big fan of the Tripping the Rift Series; I have the first two seasons on DVD and was surprised to learn that there was a third, unaired ( uh, WHY ) season not yet available on DVD. Then I hear ( because I haven't seen the third season I can't say for sure ) that the TTR The Movie is a compilation of several episodes of the third season. That may explain the lack of continuity through the movie. The language is unexpugated, and sometimes seems to add little to the plot. I did enjoy the movie, it just left me slightly disappointed.
I think when most TV shows become movies they loose their feel, and that is not the case with this movie. If you enjoy the television series I would feel safe in saying that you will equally as much. The only thing is that the movie begins with a few scenes taking place in a old Dracula-esque Transylvania and its in black & white to preserve that feel but its annoying as that scene lasts too long and I kept thinking to myself "I hope the whole movie isn't like this". Personally I like color in movies and TV and if I really liked black and white I would tune my TV that way or just have a really old TV, but I don't. Still the humor and storyline keeps to the original television series and I really enjoyed it.
The dvd came in looking brand new and they even stuck little foam pieces under the disc to keep it safe in the dvd case

Don't be fooled thinking that this movie is even remotely close to the series in terms of entertainment value. If you're expecting 'Cool Whip' or 'High School Reunion', forget it. Instead expect a little bathroom humor for your money. There are so many things that they could have done with a movie that they simply didn't do. For example, the 'Housewives' could have had their way with six instead of Chode. Too risk-ay? Well the movie as written isn't worth even 99 cents! And whose brain-child was it to reduce six to being the maternal guardian of Chode anyway? Smack them side the head for me, ok. Cheers.
If you are a fan of Tripping the Rift, the Sci Fi show, you will most likely enjoy this movie. Otherwise, probably not. If you do not find anything in the movie offensive, then you probably are not paying attention. If you enjoy the irreverent look at the science fiction/space genra, you will get a kick out of this. Although not rated, the movie would most likely earn an R for the language and cartoon sex as well as the cartoon violence. Enjoyable if you like the show, otherwise probably not your cup of tea.
no story, no humor, no nothing. save your money, buy the season 1, 2

Not anything like the series. Don't waste your money. Selling dvd strictly from reputation of series. First 15 minutes or so was all black and white. It did get better about 20 minutes into the show, of course it didn't hurt that I hit the fast forward button. I was so bored I wanted to cry. Half hour in I watched another 10 minutes before turning it off. My time was better spent watching the series. At least they were funny. I only wish I could shove this piece of sh@t up the creators @ss.
