Un-perfect spy
Different from other LeCarré-based series, the filming of this Spy shows a lot of gaps, making the reason of his behavior quite unclear. The portrait of his younger days has actors that have no resemblance ag all to his adult figure. The depiction of his relation with his father, that one must imagine to be the motor of the story, is superficial and irritating. Also, the women are shadows without personality and you never see why they do have a rapport with him. A spy series you will want to watch again
Well I saw this series when it was originally broadcast and have always wanted to see it again but couldn't find it. Should have looked on e-bay. I didn't realise before that it was a John le Carre work but that explains why it is such a good cold war spy drama. But it's more than that because it gives us a portrait of the life of the boy who would become what he was. Excellent series and excellent cast. Well I saw this series when it was originally broadcast and have always wanted to see it again but couldn't find it. Should have looked on e-bay. Faithful to the story
The story was very close to the book, a factor that is of the first importance for me in the production of a well-known book. Indeed, the series made the story clearer for me. John Le Carre's books are sometimes so full of time shifts and changes of point of view that it makes laborious reading. A Perfect Spy was a case in point.
