This three-disc set features the story of widowed writer Jessica Fletcher, played by actress Angela Lansbury, who constantly stumbles across murders which she then solves before the police can do so. This series follows a traditional mystery show formula, but the excitement of each episode comes from viewers investigating each crime alongside the main character. Angela Lansbury's groundbreaking performance as one of the first older female leads in an American TV series earned her nominations for no less than 12 Emmys, a role that viewers can enjoy once again in "Murder She Wrote - The Complete First Season". This three-disc set contains the pilot, along with all 21 episodes featured in the first year of the series. Many guest stars from Hollywood's classic era also make appearances in this mystery drama, including Milton Berle, Peter Graves, Jose Ferrer, and Martin Landau.     Not a family show

    I remember watching Murder She Wrote when it was on TV in a day when they edited out the cursing. I was shocked when getting this DVD series and the first 3 episodes all had at least 3 curse words in it. My 8 year old was watching the first and I made him leave. I watched 2 more to see if it got better, but it did not. So, I will be getting rid of them and won't even watch any more episodes. There were also sexual suggestions in each episode as well. I imagine to some this is mild cursing and suggestion and compared to today's television, it would be considered very tame, but as a Christian, it won't be watched in this house. No cursing is acceptable to God, especially taking His name in vain and they did that in each episode. If you are a Christian, I would not recommend this ...

    I have been a fan of the Murder She Wrote since the very 1st episode. I just cant get enough of them. I am enjoying them almost every night. When I cant find anything to watch on the television I pull them out and watch an episode or two. If you are a fan I would make this purchase. You wont be sorry.
