I usually read books before watching the movie, but in this case I am guessing Yalom's novel was well-adapted. If you've read "Love's Executioner" by Yalom then the end will be no surprise or real insight. However, the message given and thought-provoking scenarios Neitzsche throws out are fueled by such deep existential issues it makes it worth watching if only to ask yourself the same things. The acting is done well by the two main characters, even though the character Salome is somewhat annoying. Terrific dream sequences and has a somewhat slow flow to it, although it keeps you interested throughout. Highly recommend to those interested in existential issues and interested in history.
Nice movie, everyone should see this.

This is a marvelous film, beautifully acted and directed, and ingeniously recapturing an extraordinarily difficult and creative life. film reviewers will probably ignore it because it is "high brow," but it is a film for every thinking person.
I strongly recommend this movie. If you were ever curious about Nietzche or Freud and their ideas , this movie explains the evolution of thought and the arrival of the "talking cure" in an entertaining way.
This movie is very interesting for Nietzcshe's fans because rappresented the symbolism of the tragedy in the city of Tourin in 1888-89.
