About this product
Product Information
'Because one book had a sort of success he imagined his struggles were over.' Scholarly, anxious Edwin Reardon had achieved a precarious career as the writer of serious fiction. On the strength of critical acclaim for his fourth vel, he has married the refined Amy Yule. But the brilliant future Amy expected has evaded her husband. The catastrophe of the Reardon's failing marriage is set among the rising and falling fortunes of velists, journalists, and scholars who labour 'in the valley of the shadow of books'. George Gissing's New Grub Street was written at breakneck speed in the autumn of 1890 and is considered his best vel. Intensely autobiographical, it reflects the literary and cultural crisis in Britain at the end of the nineteenth century.

- x***w (354)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseExcellent quality merchandise; extensive product range; easy-to-use Web site; competitive pricing; efficient order processing; only negative, CD arrived slightly damaged, with crack in top right hand corner of the cd case ; (could have been packed a bit more securely with cardboard ) identical to advertised image; & excellent seller communication. A pleasure to deal with; totally professional from start to finish
- f***i (952)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseWhile the movie took sometime to arrive it did arrive safely and for free postage from overseas. The dvd was well packaged and in very good condition just as described by the sender. Communication with the seller was excellent and response to a recent communication over this items non arrival was very fast (note the movie arrived the next day). I would have no hesitation in using this seller again.Darlin' [DVD] - DVD THVG The Cheap Fast Free Post (#355802624213)
- o***d (1693)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseItems delivered as described in second hand/used condition. Good seller communication. The outer shipping packaging was very thin plastic with no additional protective packaging. The DVD discs were also not well secured in their cases & some of the DVD discs had therefore predictably come loose inside their DVD cases in postal transit. It was very fortunate that the loose DVD discs were not scuffed or scratched inside their plastic cases in postal transit. Please note this matter in future.
