Thornhill's consolation is that he gets to romance an elegant female spy. But the game of international intrigue is played for high stakes, and so, in the movie's classic thrill sequences, Thornhill finds himself being chased across cornfields by a crop-dusting plane and fighting for his life on the slopes of Mount Rushmore's famous presidential monument.
