Product Information

Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. It is important to distinguish between UV-generated haze and that of air-borne particles, such as smog. The latter is made up of opaque matter that absorbs visible light as well as UV, and will not be appreciably removed by a UV filter.The UV Protector shields lens from dust, moisture, scratches, and breakage.

    Fast service and a little bonus!

    I'm not one to write reviews, but the product came very fast and they enclosed a 'magic fiber' cloth along with the purchase. This was a really nice touch. I never know what to clean my lenses with and never took the time to look anything up. So, I got the relatively cheap lens protector and a cleaning cloth. It allowed me to not even really think twice about how to clean the lens. I figured if it was good enough to enclose with the lens, it was good enough for me! I also got a nice hand-signed note. Fast service and nice, little touches that I was not expecting on a rather inexpensive purchase. Thank you!

    Tiffen filters — a reliable name for a well made product

    I have used Tiffen filters since I first started in the photographic retail business back in the early 1970's. I sold Tiffen products then and still regard Tiffen filters a very good quality at a reasonable price. One can spend $100 and above for a simple UV filter, but I seriously question whether these high priced alternatives are measurably any better than a Tiffen. Maybe they are; maybe they are not. But, for my money for ordinary use this Tiffen UV filter serves the purpose well.

    Great Protection for lenses used in dusty environments!

    This filter is one of the best protective filters for lenses used in dusty environments. not only does the Tiffen filter seem to shed the dust that settles on a lens while shooting dirt track motor races better than some other brands of filter. It also seems to last longer before it needs to be replaced due to the abrasion of the dusty environment

    awesome protection

    I got the filter mostly because I wanted my lens to be protected from either getting scratched or broken, This filter does that job well. also keeps my lens clean. Perfect fit and easy to put on and take off to clean as well. also you can put a cap on it as well to protect it too. really like it.

    Great Buy!

    High quality product! I would buy another for my other lenses. Keeps Lens in great condition and will save you lots of money if camera is dropped. Mild glare in low light applications but that will occurs with any filter. This is a no-Brainer. Simply a Must buy!
