About this product

Product Information

In this tenth anniversary edition of his award-winning memoir, New York Times bestselling author Peter Balakian has expanded his compelling story about growing up in the baby-boom suburbs of the '50s and '60s and coming to understand what happened to his family in the first genocide of the twentieth century, the Ottoman Turkish government's extermination of more than one million Armenians in 1915. In this new edition, Balakian continues his exploration of the Armenian Genocide with new chapters about his journey to Aleppo and his trip to the Der Zor desert of Syria in his pursuit of his grandmother's life, bringing us closer to the twentieth century's first genocide.

Book arrived safely packaged in perfect order. Item as described, new. Thank you Rarewaves Outlet. Fascinating book, great addition to my collection. Great price. Would recommended this seller. No communication needed with seller, so don't know what to rate with regards to communication (please dont take lack of feedback on this matter as a negative). Thanks again.

The blue vinyl colour is darker than in the generic picture used (see my photo of actual vinyl colour). Nevertheless, it’s still a nice package with the very nice illustration booklet inside. Delivery time is a little stretched, but with free postage and a good value package, this has to be expected (delay was probably caused by the royal mail anyway). Communication was excellent and I’m glad I made my purchase from Rarewaves Outlet. Thumbs Up!

Arrived early. Brand new and sealed as described. Paperwork mail packaging. One disc was dislodged during transit but no damage occurred luckily. This set has no extras just the 8 episodes. Good communication with seller. Would recommend. Thanks

  • A great read AND a history lesson!

For those of you who know your history, this novel/memoir rings true; it tells a compelling story with evocative details from a fresh perspective. For those of you who are not versed in the heinous crimes perpetrated by the Ottoman and Young Turks against the Armenians, Pontic Greeks and other non-Muslim minorities of the greater Anatolian region from 1915-1923 (o.k., let's call it what it was: the 20th Century's First Genocide), this book is an excellent primer on these dark pages in history, shedding light on the barbarism that led up to it as well and on the sinister attempts at denial and revisionist history still perpetrated to this day by the descendants of, and government of, "The Sick Man of Europe" (Turkey). The author takes the reader along on the journey of his own ...
