Rust Remover Not as Fast-Acting as Directions Indicate
I followed all the directions and left the rust remover (step 2) in for the maximum amount of time (2 hours, I think). Unfortunately, when I drained the tank I disposed of the product before looking in the tank.... It had only removed the lightest rust deposits - less than 1/2 of the total rust. I should have kept the product and put it back in the tank. I ended up using toilet bowl cleaner twice over a period of more than a week. The rust came out in thin sheets and flakes. I used another rust remover product for the final cleaning but got out very little more rust. In talking to my independent motorcycle mechanic he said it often takes a day or more for the POR rust remover to work on a badly rusted tank. It was my mistake for discarding it too soon.
