Notes
This CD was inspired by my many trips to Ireland. My friend David Yeadon was in the process of writing his book 'At the Edge of Ireland'(Harper Collins 2009), and he asked me to spend some time in the Beara peninsula with himself and his lovely wife Anne. Out of that trip came Song For Beara. I learned and started performing Galway Girl for a group of folks who have accompanied me to Ireland a number of times. Skibbereen is in county Cork and is a stop we made on a recent trip to Ireland. They were devastated in the famine of the 1840s as were many places in Ireland. The title track for this project Tis a Fine Soft Day was written for my friend Michael who brought his mother back to Ireland for the first time since she was 8 years old. For a short while I owned a pub on Martha's Vineyard and Michael and his family made that possible. Your Heart Will Let you know was inspired by a true story. I do believe that when something is meant to be your heart does let you know. She's Still in Paris is my most requested original song about a woman who does not get to live out her dreams so she lives in them. Many of the other songs are favorites of mine including There Were Roses by the amazing Tommy Sands. I hope you all enjoy Tis a Fine Soft Day. Danny.
