Synopsis
A gripping account of Patton's leadership during the final months of World War II in Europe, and the events surrounding his mysterious death, Readers around the world have thrilled to Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy , and Killing Jesus --riveting works of nonfiction that journey into the heart of the most famous murders in history. Now from Bill O'Reilly, iconic anchor of The O'Reilly Factor , comes the most epic book of all in this multimillion-selling series: Killing Patton . General George S. Patton, Jr. died under mysterious circumstances in the months following the end of World War II. For almost seventy years, there has been suspicion that his death was not an accident--and may very well have been an act of assassination. Killing Patton takes readers inside the final year of the war and recounts the events surrounding Patton's tragic demise, naming names of the many powerful individuals who wanted him silenced.

    Inside the war in Europe

Bill O'Reilly's book "Killing Patton" not only covers the conspiracy of the sudden death of George Patton, in a suspicious car accident, but covers the, in intimate detail all the allied leaders during the last six months of World War II. The style of writing reminds me of Truman Capotes' "In Cold Blood" as O'Reilly takes a non-fiction story and weaves a tale that reads like a fictional novel. General Eisenhower's mistress, FDR"s fluency in the German Language, and Winston Churchill's inability to get re-elected immediately after the war. Did I mention George Patton. If you enjoy the history of World War II and the dirty business of our leaders as they act just like leaders have acted throughout the history of man.

    "Killing" Patton - DOA

Although I found the book well written & liked it well enough to recommend it to others; it does not really delve into the "death" of Patton like I expected from the title. It had lots of stuff on Patton, but was mostly a overview of the war, other generals & leaders in WWII. All was interesting but "not" the in depth info on Patton I expected & just a re-hash of info that anyone with a general knowledge of WWII would already know. Worth a read but not if you have to pay full hard cover price. Wait & get it used.

  • Quick read with surprise facts

I've enjoyed all of the O'Reilly "Killing" books and this one did not disappoint either. They manage to find and publish little known facts that are always a surprise. I intend to read all of them. In this book, and I've been reading about WWII for over 50 years, there was information about Russia's final push into Germany, and then post war behavior that I've never read before. O'Reilly has summed up the final months of WWII and Patton's role into a neat little package.

  • Masterpiece

I am 70 yrs. old and all my life I have heard, read, and seen movies about WW II. Not until this book, "Killing Patton", did I have such an overall understanding of exactly what took place in Europe during the war; the main players, and places and how it all intertwined and came together. O'Reilly and Dugard have done it again with their in depth research and storytelling ability. One of the best "Killing" book so far. Anxiously awaiting "Killing the Rising Sun" for all the same reasons.

Killing Patton was well researched and well written. My husband loved it and read it in just a couple days! First full book that he's read in a few years!
