Out of all the things involving Meatloaf that I can find from the past(that I can consider even remotely satisfying, as I find the man a bit of a twit),This Film and "Bat out of Hell" are the 2 most enduring. This movie in particular is a hoot, and a great bit of 70s/80s nostalgia. Great appearances by Art Carney, Alice Cooper and More! If you like 70s rock and zany Beer Based humor, then this will be right up your alley. Plenty of surprise cameos as well. Much like Rocky Horror,it's in a class all it's own! Took a while to track this down but once I did I was pleased.

The movie is campy, and yes cheesy, but also great when you look closely at the eclectic group of artists and actors with celebrity and even icon status. I was playing fiddle with Hank Jr at the time and appear in the movie. We flew to Dallas on American Airlines after appearing Sunday, Oct 28th 1979 at the "Little Nashville Opry House in Nashville, Indiana. From there we took a charter flight to Austin. We spent Mon, Tues, and part of Wed on the movie set at "The Soapcreek Saloon",in Austin then jumped on a charter flight to a gig Wed night at "The Palace" in Beaumont Texas. We were exhausted. I have my original call sheet listing my name and all the "actors" and some "movie" money...also I still have a t-shirt somewhere provided by the production company that has the Roadie logo on the front and the back says "I am in the movie"...pretty cool. Doing the movie was amazing. For me, it was an experience of a life timeRead full review
Was beat up by critics when released... most likely because they just didnt get it. Some very subtle humor, lots of it fairly "inside"... actually very inside, if I remember right. Any musician thats ever been on the road will remember some of these lines for 25 years or more... like I do! Rivaled only by Spinal Tap for musician humor.... watch it over and over, and you'll catch new things all the time. Coopers band as a lot of Todd Rundgrens former players in it... it goes on and on. And of course... Art Carney and Meatloaf... does it get any better?
Excellent, vintage rock interesting and funny, awesome fun

While this movie will never be on any list of cinematic greats, it is a funny, good time piece of entertainment. Debbie Harry is hilarious in her too brief appearance. Alice Cooper is perfect, and I love seeing Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell, and Willie Wilcox as his band! If you love rock and roll and are looking for some light entertainment, this movie will fill the bill.
Love this movie it reminds me back when i was young.

The movie ROADIE with Meat Loaf in the starring title role was an enjoyable send up of the rock and roll business. But frankly, the main attraction for me in ROADIE was watching the charming Deborah Harry playing herself as a member of the group Blondie. Deborah Harry's performance was charming and I only wish the camera had spent more time on her.
i bought the movie just to see Alice Cooper in it, but i got more than that. Meat Loaf was awesome in the movie. Also Kaki Hunter was very good, she played the groupie. good, entertaining, relaxing movie. glad to have in my DVD and Alice collection.
