I matched this up with an Insignia home theater receiver. I am very impressed with the sound quality..and especially the sub woofer. Blows me away. For mounting purposes I found the hole on the back of the speakers is just slightly too small so I had to dremmel a bigger hole to allow it to hook onto the screw anchored into the wall. I did not use the speaker wiring that came with the system..but bought a 100ft role of 18-2 gauge shielded speaker wire. At high volume..this speaker system is definitely an experience, and again the subwoofer hits really hard. No joke! Glad I went with this brand.
I bought the system just to have one in the family room and it works well.I have an older pioneer THX reciver and this system seems to work well with it. The only thing I do not like is the highs are only heard at higher volume levels but I still like this system very much and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a starter system. It sounds like it should cost more. I have a yamaha surround sound speaker system in the bedroom thats about 5 years old and this system seems to be about the the same level of quility.
For the price, this sound system is a steal. It may not compare to the high-end products like Bose but it is the perfect beginner's setup for 5.1 sound. I've had multiple similar priced setups and none of them compare. The powered Sub makes all the difference. Makes it worth ever penny even if everything else is mediocre.
The subwoofer complements the system very well. I use the Insignia NS-HT51 system for my kid's Sony PS-3, Wii, etc. Good overall performance for the money.
Impressed with the quality of construction and the sound. Good specs. Very good product at low price.
