The hardware Industrial design We're just going to come out and say it: the iPhone has the most beautiful industrial design of any cellphone we've ever seen. Yes, it's a matter of taste, and while we imagine some won't agree, we find it hard to resist the handset's thoughtful minimalism and attention to detail. The display The iPhone features the most attractive display we've ever seen on a portable device of this size, by far and bar none. While its 160ppi resolution isn't quite photorealistic, the extremely bright 3.5-inch display does run at 480 x 320, making it one of the highest pixel-density devices around today (save the Toshiba G900's mind-popping 3-inch 800 x 480 display). The screen also provides an excellent outdoor viewing experience. With optical properties reminiscent of transflective displays, the iPhone remains completely readable (if a only bit washed out) even in direct sunlight. Unfortunately, the display's viewing angle left a little something to be desired. GOOD THINGS: well, the things that I like iphone is that it can provide me a very quick information from short cut buttons. For examples, with mails button I can connect very quickly to my Gmail account and reply e-mails very quickly. For thoese who is investing in stock market, you can set up your own stocks screen and it also provide graphically analysis for you. So you can quickly get that information on how stocks moves. The other things that I like is that Iphone has many cool application for free download. For example, games & maps also development tools for Iphone developers. BAD THINGS: I can't directly delete the application from my memory by clicking an X mark. Instead of that I have to go ahead and connect to internet connection and un-install it online through "install" applicaton. This is a waste of time and phone net is not that fast enough to do many applications in one day. Also When I keep connecting to the internet the Iphone will get hotter. If you put an Iphone near your ear to call your friends after internet you will feel that heat coming off. BUT OVER ALL ARE GREAT I LOVE IT SO I WILL GIVE 8/10 FOR IPHONE AT&TRead full review

Phone is great - internet browser is the best part - be advised that you MUST carry a data plan through AT&T, not just a voice plan - no need to pay more, just get the darned thing through AT&T! The screen touch takes some getting used to and can be slow - no real menus so you have to be happy with the intuitive nature of the phone. If you need a PDA and phone most, this combines the two wonderfully. The mapping and location feature is great for the traveler. My husband is getting one of his own!
I love the iPhone. When it works it works well. I had to purchase a new iPhone recently because the wifi failed. This was my second iPhone with a failed wifi. Without the wifi the phone is not as wonderful as with the wifi and my track record is not good with iphone wifi. Two phones and two failed wifi, hopefully three is a charm. When my second iphone wifi went out I was out of warranty, so I did not get the easy replacement. This is what you should know. When you first by an iphone and a 2 year contract, you get a warranty on the phone. If the phone hardware fails within the warranty period they will replace it. However when they replace it the hardware warranty clock does not restart at 0, it continues based on the original warranty. If after the original warranty runs out the hardware failed even if it is 4 months after they will not replace the phone. So my wifi on my first phone went out within 3 months of the warranty end period. I got a replacement for free. The wifi on my second phone went out after 3 1/2 months, but my original warranty was over and Apply only warrants the hardware for 90 days. So basically out of luck. They will replace it at a reasonable price, but they only warrant it for 90 days. So my only beef is with the reliability of the wifi. Everything else is great. It is my single most important device.Read full review
The iPhone 16GB has enough capacity for movies & music I've owned a cellphone since 1992. I've always had a "top of the line phone" (I've always had AT&T GSM as well = formerly Cingular = formerly BellSouth Mobility). I've had some good phones: Motorola v60 "Vader", Nokia 6102i GSM is the international standard & the technology the iPhone uses The 2.2.1 firmware is very stable. 2.0 brought the app store. 3.0 brought copy & paste I've had some REALLY bad phones: Motorola SLVR, Sony Ericsson s710a, & an HP iPaq 6515. In 16 years having cellphones, I've had over 100 (yes 100+) different models & makes I haven't had signal issues w/ many phones, it's always been asthetics that bothered me or a clumsy interfaces Every phone I've ever had, no matter how long I've had it - I always had a problem placing a call on hold & answering another call or joining a call into a 3-way call. With the iPhone interface being so well designed & the features so clearly labeled. I don't have that problem any more As for the design - the Sony Ericsson s710a was a beautiful phone, but the way it flipped open was awkward. When you opened it - it flipped upside down. You had to open it, then rotate the phone to use it With the HP iPaq 6515 - I hated the keyboard. It was hard to see, crowded w/ characters & difficult to use w/ my large fingers. This is a problem I face w/ almost all phones w/ physical keyboards except the HTC 8525 - which has the best phone keyboard of any phone. iPhone users should try the pogo stylus The camera on my Nokia 6201i was great, but it was difficult to use & to get pictures off of The iPhone keyboard is clear, easy to use, & once you get use to it - allows for very fast typing. I used it more in the first 10 days of owning my iPhone than I ever used ANY keyboard on ALL phones I've ever owned The camera on the iPhone is terriffic - the viewfinder & capture buttons are crystal clear. It's easy to get the photos from iPhone to computer for editing Unlike most smartphones - that have Windows Mobile, the iPhone has an intuitive interface that's easy to understand & navigate. There's no need to read a manual; it's just simple to understand. Before the iPhone, I hated text messaging. I texted more in the 1st 10 days than I have in the last 10 years! Because an iPhone uses standard iPod sync & charge cables, accessories are easy to find. Battery life is very good; even when utilizing power draining features like Wifi & Bluetooth. I can actually use the calculator on an iPhone, unlike on other cell phones where you have to figure out what key corresponds to an add/multiply/divide The Google Maps feature is amazing w/ the ability to use satellite data. The GPS integration w/ LocateMe is awesome The weather forecast widget is nice to have - especially in the summer so you can plan your outdoor week or weekend spontaneously My complaints thus far: - Edge data network is acceptable - I'd like to see bluetooth data exchange so I could sync an iPhone via bluetooth. - FM transmitters don't work well due to interference Invalid complaints: - Internet access too slow - The keyboard is hard to use - at 1st it is ... it definitely takes getting used to. Once you start letting an iPhone correct your mistakes & just hitting the space bar, it becomes pretty fast. I've always thought this was an invalid complaint because blackberry & treo are just as hard to usRead full review
I personally only had the 4gb/8gb versions of the 1st gen iPhone, but got to play with this 16gb variant--exactly the same. Don't buy a 16gb iPhone and believe it's a 3G edition with GPS--check the back case or product code first!! The 3g variants (8/16gb and black/white back casings) are almost identical. Depending on your uses, it won't matter which you get. Encoding and loading videos is too much work. The iPod feature functions EXACTLY as an iPod would. Sadly, the GPS is too weak to be useful, with no 3rd party routing software available. Thoughts: 1st Gen (4gb/8gb/16gb, Edge) vs 2nd Gen (8gb/16gb, 3G+GPS) 1. The battery life for both is rather similar. The 2nd Generation iPhone wins, but not by enough to justify the upgrade. 2. The LCD digitizer (touchscreen) is practically the same with both editions--don't expect major changes. 3. The cases and dimensions of the 1st and 2nd generation iPhones are similar, but the 1st gen is "fatter" in terms of overall girth. 1st gen iphones will not fit in 2nd gen cases, and vice versa. 4. The 1st gen iPhone has a recessed phone jack at the top, and will accommodate only apple-style headphone plugs (circular cable inset). The 2nd generation is standardized, and will work with regular plugs without secondary adapters. 5. The 1st gen iPhone has a metallic case on the backside. The 2nd gen iPhone has either a white or black plastic case. The chrome trim remains the same on both devices. The plastic cases tend to scratch easier than the metallic versions, but the plastic looks better and has a better (smoother) feel to the bare touch. 6. Overall function: both versions are very similar, featuring EXTREMELY similar hardware. Aside from the GPS addition in the 2nd generation iPhone models, you will be hard-pressed to notice any differences in overall functionality--but ONLY assuming you're updated to the same firmware version on each device. What is disturbing about this model: 1. Do NOT let it overheat. Make sure you keep it charged in a cool location with sufficient airflow. This means DON'T put it on fabric. Don't overcharge, and be sure to inspect (check for overheating) regularly. The first time it overheats (it will be HOT to the touch), the battery output will GREATLY diminish (1/2 to 1/3 capacity), and should be changed through Apple. 2. There is NO apple-supplied application for checking and resetting the iPhone battery. This is provided for MacBooks, but not the iPod line 3. All of the iPhone models are EXTREMELY fragile--immediately purchase a case (breathable if possible), or a Zagg InvisibleShield to protect it from scratches and the odd bump/bruise. 4. Internal components are flush with the case, and simple dents will cause components/features to fail 5. DO NOT attempt to open ANY iPhone model for repair if you do not have experience--the cases/trim are prone to dents/bends, and you are likely to scratch/damage internal components if you attempt to replace the digitizer or battery yourself (the most common repairs). It is better to take them directly to Apple stores for repair. 6. Based on who you talk to, Apple will ONLY honor the 1 year manufacturer warranty if the iPhone is linked to an AT&T contract. If you have Jailbroken/Unlocked your iPhone, reset it to factory firmware and specifications before attempting to deal with Apple Repair. 7. No external HD capacity detected--camera only. 8. You have to deal with iTunes to activate and sync music.Read full review
This smart phone is fine but has some limitation like Bluetooth A2P (Yo have to add an additional hardware to have this capability of stereo hands free), copy-paste and video recording is not allowed; you can not change the internal memory or add more memory, you can not send and receive MMS, even you can not install program because there is a lock on internal memory. So then, why Iphone is very exciting and a lot of people is looking for one?. Now you are be able to jailbreak the internal memory of this smart phone these means that you can install wherever program you want, also there is a SDK development suite to create your own application converting your smart phone to more intelligent phone, j eje je e with endless applications. Also, this is a very fancy phone with a good looking design. The optic of the 2Mpixels camera is really good also the navigator is one of the best ones on Smart phones. Finally all the updates for Iphone are going very very slowly, I would like to think that APPLE is trying to take care of the quality of the product. Well hopefully some of the comments here will be helpful to you. From my point of view Xperia X1 from Sonyericsson and N97 from Nokia are the best ones and the prices are very close to Iphone. Best regards.Read full review
A very full featured phone that puts the best of a PDA, MP3/MP4/video, phone, camera and more into 1 attractive user friendly device. Especially like the ability to add or subtract features and programs to suit your needs. lots of support - new gadgets and programs being put out constantly. Reccommend 16gb version if you want to keep lots of music/ pics/ videos or programs, as phone does not have have the ability to add memory. Also battery life could be better when viewing videos and using programs. Price becomming more reasonable on the original since the introduction of the 3G model.
