can handle multiple sizes and envelopes with no problem. good color matching. If you can get one, GET IT. They're great printers, but they're no longer being manufactured. summary: a FIVE STAR printer that will last years, but is sadly doomed to extinction.

I received the Pixma IP3000 which is a very good machine however I've not been able to evaluate it's performance because the printhead was unusable. It appears the the printer sat for awhile without being used. I'm sure this caused the ink to dry up and clog the printhead. I will have to find and purchase a printhead before I evaluate the printer quality.

I bought this printer because it is one of the "very" few that will except the ink cartridges that I have on hand. Some of the other Canon printers may take the Black or the colors but Not both. My old printer was a Canon i560 which I loved but it suddenly went bad. I have used the iP3000 for about a month and so far so good. I did have to download a driver from the Canon website because the one that comes with the printer is NOT compatible with Win 7 64 bit operating system. Downloading the new driver was no problem. I ended up paying a whole lot more than I wanted to but consider myself lucky to have found a brand new, never been used or out of its original box, iP3000. Neither the iP3000 (2004) or i560 (2003) are manufactured anymore. I am very pleased with the printing of this iP3000.
This printer duplexes (front & back) automatically and can load from the lower cassette (allowing shelf use) or from the top, so you can have two different papers in the printer at the same time (although legal only loads from the top). It has a big black cartridge and three individual smaller color cartridges (unlike the 4000 which had both a big and a small black). Edge-to-edge photos are gorgeous. Hard to ask for more. I bought it to replace one that was stolen.
This is an easy printer to use this is my second prima that I have had, I would recommend this printer to anyone mainly because of the inks and that it is soo easy to use and one can also print pictures right from your camera if you so chose I would get another one if this one stops working I do a lot of printing so this one may only last 5 years like the last one did
Replaced a busted i560. Uses same ink cartridges - good. Both a top sheet feeder and a tray - good. Keep envelopes in feeder and paper in tray - convenient. Says it does duplex printing (both sides?) - haven't tried that yet. An excellent upgrade printer for my low volume needs.

At one time, this was a good four-color printer, with several advantages, including low ink cost (even the official Canon ink). I got several years of service out of mine, before the print head suddenly failed. I've had no luck salvaging old units for a replacement head - most have similar issues. If you still want to get this printer, here are a few practical suggestions, to help avoid disappointment. #1 is by far the most important. 1- If printer is not new-in-box, politely request that the seller do a "nozzle check" (or make a test photo print). 2- If a used printer actually does "work perfectly" - you are lucky to have found one! But consider that the original print head can fail at any time - so judge the the price accordingly. 3- If a printer is being sold without ink cartridges - remember that the ink cartridges help keep the print head from drying out and clogging. 3- Regarding buying a non-working printer to fix, or for parts: Don't gamble on the hope that a non-working printer simply has clogged print heads. Many printers are offered for sale with the print head missing - there is a reason for that. Check out the cost of a replacement print head, and judge the price of a non-working printer accordingly. 4- If you are really set on buying an iP3000 (or the related i560), the best deal is most likely by buying new-in-box.Read full review
Great printer. I bought my first Canon IP3000 16 years ago It finally failed and I was fortunate enough to find this printer to replace it. Believe me, this was a bargain.

Just getting started using it, but once I figured out how to set up the wifi it's been great. Printing from my phone was a snap.

Ever wonder why these old Canon printers are going for so much money on eBay? Because they can be easily modified to print CDs and DVDs! Units sold in the USA were banned from printing disks because of a patent issue, but the necessary parts and tray are cheaply available on eBay. Printers work great, use cheap ink, seem to last almost forever.
