De geneeskunde ontwikkelde zich eerst op het gebied van anamnese en lichamelijk onderzoek, later volgden laboratoriumonderzoek (van lichaamsstoffen als urine, bloed en weefsel) en beeldvorming. Urineonderzoek leidde aanvankelijk tot een diagnose door het kijken naar urine door 'piskijkers'. Evenzo kon het bekijken van het afgetapte bloed bij aderlatingen tot een diagnose leiden. In deze tijd van hoogontwikkelde technologische kennis lijkt de kunst van het luisteren naar en bev- gen van de patient, het onderzoeken van de patient door middel van kijken ('spot diagnosis') op de achtergrond te raken. Een van de gedachten achter de uitgave van dit boek is aandacht te vragen voor deze vaardigheid. Het vinden van de diagnose op basis van een goede anamnese en zorgvuldig lic- melijk onderzoek verdient immers nog steeds de grootste aandacht. Wezenlijk daarbij zijn bijvo- beeld het onderzoek van de huid, nagels, slijmvliezen, ogen en genitalia. Anders dan leken en soms ook collegae denken, zijn de anamnese en het lichamelijk onderzoek van het grootste belang voor het vinden van de diagnose. Daarna kwamen en komen het laboratoriumonderzoek en beeldvormende onderzoek, ter bevestiging of verwerping van differentiele diagnosen. De eerste ontwikkelingen in de geneeskunde zijn vooral tot stand gekomen door verwondering: een medisch onderlegd persoon kwam iets nieuws tegen wat hij nooit eerder had gezien of gelezen. 'Iets nieuws'ontdekken kan ons ook overkomen. Dat een verschijnsel nog niet bekend is, komt echter nog maar weinig voor.

Fantastic seller! My item took longer than normal to arrive but that's due to them sending me the wrong dvd. Not to worry though, I contacted them and they arranged for the correct dvd to be sent out. My item has now arrived and the dvd was in excellent condition (brand new as described) and it was very well packaged. I would also like to say that the value for money is excellent. This vinyl is really reasonably priced and I love that it is one of the more unusual colours. It arrived well packaged, undamaged and looks as described.
