Prime Suspect 2
Helen Mirren portrays human fallibility and strength perfectly. A racial story. Being a cop is not a happy job, but a brutally satisfying and vital one. She plays in a mans' world according to their rules. Political blackmail works in a good ole' boy's system. Her superiors understand it, and grudgingly respect her for using their tactics. She sinks, of course, in our moral eyes, but Prime Supect is honest 1st and foremost. Afterall, a high-minded, spiritual lady could not get inside a killer's mind and rid society of his presence. Helen is an impulsive sexual being and her choice of partners creates problems for her. She is diminshed in her superiors' eyes as they, of course, know what she does. great DVDs to see and hear!
Great BBC show--getting the DVDs really made watching the series better than on regular TV--I had first watched the last half of the shows on PBS and missed a lot of dialogue because of the different accents used in the UK. I am seriously thinking of getting the others (4-7) so I can really understand what was all said during the PBS showing. I had not been able to see the original series completely. I wanted to see the ones I missed which were 1,2,and 3. Really worth it to fill in the picture of Jane Tennison. Prime Suspect and Intelligent Mystery Series
I love the any British mystery series and Prime Suspect is excellent. A strong woman that does not back down in a male dominate work environment. Some Americans can't get into Brit shows but it is interesting to see the cultural differences in the legal and police professions. It's fiction, it's fun. It's like a British "The Closer". All the series progress from year to year so you can follow the characters...like Law and Order. Either you'll love it or hate it.I love the any British mystery series and Prime Suspect is excellent.
