One of the heads were apart in 2 pieces but easy to put back together if you look at the interior of the other head. If you keep the item clean and maintained it should last a long while. I advise storing away in a moisture proof bag or container to ensure a longer lifespan. Looks very nice and travels easily in my makeup bag.
