    Once the trains are running, then the landscape . . .

    Although I live in the U.S., I have purchased more than 15 British-published model railway books through eBay, and this is one of my favorites. Why? British authors take the approach of making recommendations while America's largest model railroad publisher usually quotes "the experts" while taking a "do this, don't do that" approach. The Scenic Modeling guide is well-illustrated with one or two color photos on every two-page spread. Published in 2013, the book is recent enough not to be out of date. The only fault that I find is that specific British products unknown (at least by the same brand name) in North America are recommended.
