    Asus PIKE IR card with many FW (LSi) options.

    This card is normally shipped in IR mode (With IR LSi firmware) but can be cross-flashed into other RAID & non-RAID modes relatively easy, as all the other FW options for this type of card are easily available via the web, with many guides around on how to cross-flash. However, this card can also be passed through to the OS'es without cross-flashing; simply by not loading the PIKE Option ROM - within the Asus board's BIOS. Note though that if you do dissable the PIKE option ROM you will not be able to actually 'boot' via the card, but drives will (should) show up in the OS. Tested within Windows 10 & Linux distros.

    Asus PIKE controllers is a strange beasts. But usable.

    Well. PIKE format is specific to Asus. Motherboards, that accept these HBA's have some non-standard slot. Engineers tried to fit an optional SAS controller to extend MB functionality. The same way as Supermicro do their UIO and WIO cards. Overall, it is just a well known LSI2008 HBA that most ZFS fans like. And yeah! I've bought it to have a 8xSAS6 HBA with all other slots free.

    Works as advertised

    I am using an Asus motherboard in my Unraid build. I was able to flash this to IT mode and it works flawlessly. This was the cheapest I found. It was delivered a few days earlier than they said it would be.

    This has an LSI controller on it so it is much better for use in an UNRAID system as there are not lost or corrupted data like you get from the marvel controllers. Marvel works great normally but not in UNRAID.
