PRAISE FOR THE SERIES The entire novel feels like it could be a lost episode from the show. - The Verge [Big Damn Hero is] Season Two. Episode One. - Birth.Movies.Death Illuminates not only a huge chunk of Mal's past but also showcases a perfectly plausible chapter in the adventures of the Serenity's crew. - The Frumious Consortium Fans who know the 'verse well...will feel right at home in this story that spans the era before the series, with callbacks to events in the series, and right afterward as if it were a 15th episode. - Borg.com For someone who genuinely enjoyed the Firefly 'verse, this was a treat to read. - Editing Everything An outstanding tie-in to the beloved TV series, this book is shiny in every way possible. - Books Bones & Buffy This was a wild ride back into the world of Firefly that I sorely missed; I loved learning some of the backstory that Fox robbed us from fifteen years ago and look forward to the next installment. - Reader Voracious Big Damn Hero absolutely nails it across the board for me...It brings back all of the familiar and beloved while adding in dashes of the new and unknown. This Firefly book is a no-brainer buy for fans of the franchise. - Nerds on Earth

Synopsis
The ninth original novel tying into the critically acclaimed and much-missed Firefly series from creator Joss Whedon. It all started with the geese. The Firefly crew is eager to get paid for their latest job, but when payment arrives as a gaggle of geese instead of a purse, their stay on the planet Brome gets an indefinite extension. Don't matter that the geese will fetch a pretty penny once they get somewhere to sell them. Without coin, they can't buy fuel, and without fuel, they can't get offworld. Serenity is stuck. Luckily the foreman of the local fuel refinery, Lyle Horne, wants to hire them, but not to work in the factory. He needs their help on a job only a crew like Serenity can pull off. Horne is an old friend of Shepherd Book's. Mal would love to know more, but Lyle's got bigger fish to fry. An authority known as The Governess has been kidnapping his workers. Lyle wants them back. The crew need to break into her fortress of an estate and retrieve the workers. Jayne, who suffered a goose-related injury stays behind to keep an eye on Horne while the rest of the crew split up to infiltrate the fortress. However, the Governess has her own story, as do the workers. Is Lyle lying? While they're trying to make sense of it all, the workers' children come aboard Serenity, with a plan to steal the ship and launch their own rescue mission., The ninth exhilarating and original Firefly novel tying into the critically acclaimed and fan-beloved series, from creator Joss Whedon, follows Mal, Book and the rest of the crew mounting a madcap heist to untangle themselves from a sinister web of lies on a backwater moon. Stranded and Broke It all started with the geese. The Firefly crew is eager to get paid for their latest job, but when payment arrives as a gaggle of geese instead of a purse, their stay on the planet Brome gets an indefinite extension. Don't matter that the geese will fetch a pretty penny once they get somewhere to sell them. Without coin, they can't buy fuel, and without fuel, they can't get off-world. Serenity is stuck. A Figure from the Past Luckily the foreman of the local fuel refinery, Lyle Horne, wants to hire them, but not to work in the factory. A philanthropic authority known as The Governess has been kidnapping his workers. Lyle's fixing to get them back--with the help of Mal and his crew. Only trouble is, Lyle's got a mysterious past with Shepherd Book, one the preacher ain't too keen to talk about. Plans Go Awry Out of options and out of time, they launch a three-pronged plan: Mal will break into her fortress of an estate to retrieve the workers, Inara and Simon will pose as potential donors to the Governess's charity as a distraction, and Jayne will stay behind to keep an eye on Lyle. But things never do go smooth, and soon the crew finds they have more than a few geese running amuck on Serenity.

- c***t (921)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThe book I bought was reasonably priced and when it arrived it was in the 'Like New' condition specified in the listing. However, when I saw that the seller had not shipped the book after more than 15 days had passed since my order I felt I must write to say that I had actually placed an order with the seller and inquire when it planned to send the book. The brusque reply was that a tracking number was available, but no number HAD been created until I pointed out that I had placed the order.Catland by Hughes, Kathryn, Like New Used, Free shipping in the US (#356798982438)
