It's the best Sonic collection you can get. Well, for the Gamecube at least.
This collection has a great presentation, all the Mega Drive Sonic games and a few extras. And for how much this collection goes for nowadays, picking it up is really a no brainer. With that said, it's not perfect. It doesn't support save states, so you can't save at all except for in Sonic 3, so you have to beat all the games in one sitting. With how busy and impatient people are nowadays, this can easily be a deal breaker. Also, it doesn't support progressive scan even if you have component cables, so 480i is the best you're gonna get. With that said, the games still look surprisingly sharp if you use component. There are also a few emulation issues, but they're quite minor. So overall this is a solid collection, but to be honest, there are better ways to play these games nowadays. There ... There's even a Plus version of this collection available on PC, PS2 and Xbox, which has some Game Gear games, some additional extras and, more importantly, save state support. But if you're planning on sticking with the GameCube, you can get the Sonic Game Gear games in Sonic Adventure DX as you play through it. Still, this collection has a great presentation, and if you can get past the fact that you won't be able to save your progress, it can still be a great addition to your GameCube library.
