    The do everything lens.

    The auto-focus motor is noisy and you can hear it above the microphone in video shooting, you will need to use an exterior microphone. For still photography it's a truly magnificent lens, it covers such a wide focal range - all the way from 18mm to 300mm - it can be the only lens you'l need when on holiday. Why lug around 4 or 5 different lenses when this one covers just about all the non-pro photographer needs? It has rapidly become my "most used "lens.
