  • The Best DBZ Story Ever Told

DBZ meets The Terminator: Powerful, Tragic, & Hopeful. For those who were disappointed with Gohan in the Great Saiyaman and Majin Buu sagas, this special shows Gohan grown up with absolutely no silliness. Dameon Clarke voices him here for the first and only time, and his performance is immortalized in my mind forever. Trunks also is very relatable with the indomitable spirit despite all the losses he suffers, and his mother Bulma knows how he can do it: Use the time machine and give Goku the antidote to change the future giving the special a bittersweet ending. The interplay between Androids 17 and 18 brings some much-needed levity to this broody story yet these villains remain eerie and creepy. Additionally, the Dream Theater music in this movie is a match made in heaven. Goku may not be in this one, but it is absolutely the best DBZ feature ever and forever will be.
