  • The Socrates of Black Metal

I think The Return of Bathory has all the energy of early Bathory though the production value sounds like it was recording in a shitty garage sore of way.You have all that energetic fun 80"s plodding Euro-Metal style. While invovaters like Bathory,Venom(which they got the name from the Venom,"Countess Bathory"),Motorhead,Kreator and etc was performing real metal as opposed to the hairspray Glam bullshit metal which is more like aluminum a la Motley Crue,Poison,Bon Jovi,Dokken and etc being performed at the States. With a few exceptions like Slayer and a handful of San francisco Speed Metal/hardcore bands.American Radio Metal in the 80"s sucked ass.Bathory launched the Norwegian archtype for Black Metal and made metal fun and evil again.Mercyful Fate and King Diamond might of got the ball ...

  • The most evil album of all ages

This CD is a great re-release of the 2nd Bathory album. Every (black) metal fan knows that this band was among the pioneers of black metal genre with Venom, Hellhammer and even Sodom, and despite of the fact that this album was released in 1985, it remained the archetype of black metal style for me. The musical tunes and song structures are the most evil ones I have ever heard, invoking the spirit of Dark Ages, medieval sorcery, the appearances of the Devil – shortly, the shaded side of the history of mankind. The Return…… surpasses the works of Darkthrone or Mayhem undeniably. Only a few black metal works can approach its greatness, especially the 1st Sarcófago album called I.N.R.I. or the December Moon demo of Morbid. Buy this album, you won’t be disappointed.
