Yes, entertaining when it works, which is not very often. My recently purchased Bachmann Southern Prairie Steamer 51572 is a huge disappointment. It stops running after 15-30 minutes. I think it overheats and has to cool off. After 15+ minutes of cooling off, it will run again, but only for about 15 minutes until it stops again. This is the second Bachmann Prairie Steamer 51572 I have purchased. The first Bachmann steamer, purchased just before Christmas 2020, has been sent back to the Bachmann Repair Dept. twice (2 times) within a year. Repair #1 jerking as it ran around the oval track Repair #2. started "jumping around" and then locked up. My first Bachmann steamer "Yard Boss was purchased in 2018. The driving wheels fell off the second Christmas Season. I would suggest NOT to purchase a Bachmann locomotive unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars $$$ on something that does not work properly and is a headache dealing with all the returns.Read full review

Knowing Bachmann to be a trustworthy brand, I had no hesitation in purchasing this engine. It is new, and although painted to be for the Southern RR, I wanted it to pull a Christmas train. Being analog, it was simple, and ran on a look under the Christmas tree. Perfect !!

I do not like the tiny, tiny wheels at the front and at the back of the engine. They are small than normal and are very loose. It is very hard to get them lined with the track.
