This truck is awesome, plain and simple. Wanted something small but not too small for some close-to-home bashing. My 10th and 8th scale trucks are just too big. This Losi takes a serious beating and keeps on ticking. Has tons of upgrades and all kinds of online support from forums, reviews, and even the losi site directly can be informative when working on these. I personally upgraded to brushless with a lipo battery which i strongly recommend. Went with a 7800kv tacon motor and mamba max micro pro esc. Its almost too fast to control at full throttle (45mph+). Handles great in the dirt and on road. I do also recommend getting oil filled shocks at some point though, the spring tension stock shocks are ok but not great. All in all I love my Losi mini and would recommend it to any beginner or advanced RC hobbiest.Read full review
This is fun little truck and a steal at $129 for something with a brushless motor, 4wd, 2.4 radio and from a known manufacturer. It's basically a re-branded Vaterra Kalahari and shares almost all of the parts with it's brother the 1/14 Mini Rally. Some parts will even interchange from the Losi Mini 8ight as a bonus. If you plan on doing much driving in the grass, save your money and get something 1/10 scale, it sits way too low with smallish tires. The 4wd helps but it just isn't big enough for it. The factory NiMH battery is is OK but will give you a pretty short run time so a lipo upgrade is something that I would consider a necessary upgrade. Also the spur gear isn't really protected, I ordered a chassis cover for the Kalahari (VTR210000) so time will tell if it actually does anything as the rear of the spur is still uncovered. What I like about it is it's size. Just being small it's easy to run in small areas or throw in a backpack. Brushless with 4wd is always a great combination. It seems to be pretty quick for its size and will be even better once my lipo comes in. It's wide enough with a low CG that it doesn't roll over easy. Finally I really love the looks and the color combination. This is subjective but it has a nice scale look with nice detailing. I could have just as easily bought the Rally too, but thought that the higher mounted body of the Desert truck might work better for me.Read full review

Got it for my son because the 1/16 revo is a little too much for a 4yr. year old, and I mean the cost and the power. That being said, he really likes it, but I think it could really use a smaller remote control.

Honestly, while the seller is great, the product is not. Had bought it with Christmas money and other than the first week I have used it twice since then. It didnt have the speed or more importantly the power to go over a very simple dirt track that I have on the side of my house built out. My boys Helion Animus cars take to it great with no problems. I did a lot of research on the 1/18 for the price and use and had my hear set on the Helion but in the last minute changed to the Losi because of it s name and reputation not to mention the videos that showcase its speed and power. Lets just say I am really disappointed and highly recommend the Helion Animus which is cheaper and will last longer...
Best RC I've purchased so far after 3 failed ones. This little Losi can ride on artificial turf, carpet, and do 360 spins like nothing. Great RC to chase the dogs. Had a lot of fun with it. Plus it runs pretty fast. Only con would be the low battery life. You may have to purchase a spare battery for around $15.
