Of course the Blu-Ray's Video and Audio presentation is excellent. I mainly wanted to buy and view this for the Extended version and to compare that to the shorter Theatrical release, also included. The biggest treat was the fascinating commentary track from the Director Jon Favreau - one of the best I have come across. And among the Special Features, Favreau's conversations with Producer's Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard as well as others with several main actors were all fascinating. I was surprised to learn that much of the filming was made "Old School" - with actors physically doing most of the stunts on location (wires and cranes, etc.) rather than taking the easier route of resorting heavily to post production digital effects. Perhaps now I better understand why for nine years I had often returned to again watch this seemingly preposterous yet always engaging film on cable TV or streaming... even though it honestly is outside of my accustomed preferred genre. The DVD included with this package will also let you share the film with others with older media players. Or you can play that on a Laptop through a disc drive if you are ever out of range of an Internet connection... (camping or in a rustic cabin on a rainy day, it may help calm bored or jittery kids). Definitely a great purchase and this is well worth saving in your video library.Read full review

I enjoyed Cowboys and Aliens when I saw it in the theater and knew I wanted the Blu Ray when it was released. The Blu Ray doesn't disappoint. It has great picture quality, excellent sound and a great selection of features including both the theatrical edition of the film, an extended edition of the film, commentaries and featurettes. The movie itself is a pretty simple western plot with aliens serving as the bad guys. The real joy is in watching the interaction between Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig playing characters not unlike Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef in the Man With No Name movies. Craig and Ford are supported by a strong cast of supporting actors making for an enjoyable Western-With-a-Twist. My only real dislike of the Blu Ray is that there are several reminders to connect to the internet for extra content. Great that there's extra content on the internet, but I wonder how long that content will remain available. Will the blu ray be outdated in a year or two when you can't access some features?Read full review

This is such an excellent overall movie. Not another aliens/fiction movie as we are use to see very often. Cowboys & Aliens is pretty different in many ways. As we see cowboys trying to figure out the mistery of weird lights in the skies with frightening sounds, taking away the people from the western small town they all lives in. After they try to discover the mistery , the cowboys along with some normal people from their very town , team up forces with the indians colony to rescue their dissappeared ones and fight till the end to survive this invation that twisted their heads and minds. There's a lot of great special effects , humor and fun. The plot is very interesting and has a lot of sequenses of thriller and suspense. This movie delivers in everything and the performance of all the characters is at their best , amazingly awesome. Pure action and adrenaline. You can't wait to see how it ends as it keeps you to the edge of your seat. If you're planning going for a 2nd round of popcorn , do not forget to pause it first. Enjoy it ! MP ...Read full review
