Aside from me having to resist the urge to use the tool like a mini bat'leth, it was very good at its job. A reassuringly sturdy build made the tool easy to use. The reversible head allows for different size springs/caps and the adjustability at both ends made compression reasonably comfortable. All in all a very useful tool that made the head overhaul a pleasure rather than a struggle. Recommended.

I found this far better and faster to use than the version which clamps onto the spring. However the levers to compress are too short and were next to useless so I ended up using the 'T' bar to compress the spring down after applying the tension with the levers. The one I had delivered also was a bit on the cock and the part which compresses the spring snapped off from the two tiny weeny little studs it is mount to. I have requested a replacement so will see what the result is there but I removed a grand total of 3 valves before it dropped its guts. Lucky I'm not depending on it.

I had a couple of older valve removal tools, but they were always a bit of a struggle on bike engines, so I thought it was time for a replacement. This arrived last week, and I finally got around to stripping the head today. After a few minutes setting up, I zipped through the valve removal process in about ten minutes, no exaggeration. There's one trick to this - always give the top spring retainer a biff with a socket and hammer to break the collets loose. Doesn't need much, but if the collets are jammed in tight over the years, there's an unnecessary strain put in the removal tool to break them free.

Used for k series valve change; easy enough to set up & use, strong build quality. This comes complete with a 30mm diameter head set on two strong rods, allowing very good access to valve collects once the spring is compressed. Bearing in mind I am a novice, the extra little money spent to purchase this particular pair gives you full confidence to tackle the job, although in hindsight an extra head say around 25mm would probably have suited the rover k series a little better but still an excellent tool imho and it worked well for me.

Does the job well once the technique has been mastered preferably the work is carried out by two people...A little oil on the linkages of the tool helps.
