Some time ago I bought an SSD to transfer my OS for faster boot time, but I only have 5 SATA ports on my motherboard. All fully occupied with 3 HDD and 2 DVD. I had an unused PCI Express port and so this card was a perfect solution, giving SATA3 speed of 6GB/sec and 2 additional ports. This made the cloning of my OS a very simple task and once done I was able to enjoy super fast boot and a much snappier PC all round and I still have one unused SATA port for future expansion or migration to further SSD's. A great card that has breathed new life into my old PC

This card allows one to connect two more internal HDD than the motherboard provides, depending on the hardware in the motherboard. It works.

I used this to temporarily add some extra SATA connectivity to a motherboard which already had all its SATA ports populated. I used the card to connect to my two WD Black 7200rpm drives which aren't fast enough to saturate a SATAIII connection so I can't vouch for its overall speed, but it performed perfectly well for my needs and I would recommend it to anyone connecting extra SATA drives in their PC.

The board works well, and is able to make raid. However, when doing benchmarks with ssds, it does not reach sata 3 speeds and stays around 200/250mbps write/read.

Baught this for my rampage 2 extreme yes it speeded my system up but not by that much than using normal slots on the board wasn't worth the time and effort installing it then removing it certainly doesn't run at 6gbs on my system
