    The Mothman Prophecies

3 reasons I loved this movie: 1) The bridge collapsed in a town just miles from where my father lived! He, and a neighbor, went to help after the collapse! 2) Movie partially filmed in Kittanning, PA, next to my husband's hometown! Richard Gere pulled into Kittanning and parked right in front of my favorite little restaurant I went to everytime I went shopping there! 3) The movie was based on a prophecy that a Washington Post newspaper writer (Richard Gere's wife) who was killed while investigating this strange occurrence. I was born in Georgetown, DC! My mother worked at the Post when she 1st went to DC! SO...that makes 4 connections I have to this movie! NOTE: The Mothman was never seen again after the bridge collapsed!

  • A Real Bone Chiller,Don't Watch This While You're Alone

Based upon true events around 1966-1967, The Mothman Prophecies centers around a rash of weird, somewhat supernatural, events reportedly occurring in and around Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Covering a story for the Washington Post, John Klein (Richard Gere) drives south towards Richmond. He unexpectedly has car trouble and finds himself far off course. He walks in the rain to try to find help and winds up knocking on the door of Gordon and Denise Smallwood (Tom Patton and Lucinda Jenney). Gordon becomes very irritated and angry. Gordon claims that John has knocked on his door three nights in a row exactly at 2 a.m. When Sergeant Connie Parker (Laura Linney) arrives to investigate, Klein discovers this is just one of many strange events happening in this small town. With Parker's ...

  • The Mothman Prophecies-DVD

This is a film where the dark mood sets the tone. Being an admirer of author John Keel's research on this subject matter I appreciated the way the filmmakers pulled this off. It moves like a mystery with an erie effect each step of the way. The interest level will keep your attention piqued throughout. I'm not normally a Richard Gere fan but I thought he did a really good job in this. Laura Linney is good, too. Tom Patton adds the odd charactor that one seems to remember most because of what he has experienced. It really gets spooky whenever the mothman communicates with Gere and some of the townspeople, especially Patton. This is a film that sticks with the viewer long after it's finished being seen. Do some background reading on the mothman subject and view some youtube videos about it ...

  • Very entertaining take on an old legend. The characters were well played.

I've heard about the incident re: The Silver Bridge collapse,,but this adds a whole new dimention to it. Characters were VERY engaging (Richard Gere, again), and his co-star (Debra Messing) were totally believeable. Loved seeing it fleshed out with some new stuff. Will definitely enjoy seeing it again!

  • The Mothman Prophecies

Yes I loved this movie based on actual events, the creep factor was one hundred percent even after seeing it a few times, and the actors were very convincing. A lot of very disturbing things are out there that we can never hope to explain or perhaps we are not meant to be able to but, for something to ponder on its a good start. Ready for some thing worse? then try: The Entity staring Barbera Hershey based on true life events that became impossible to stop and, The Exorcism of Emily Rose again true horror based on events that took place in Germany and involved a very high profile court case. So, you think your living in a nuts and bolts modern world? Be warned, they WILL all keep you awake at night.
