    This can opener works like the one my wife received for a wedding gift in 1965 which is still working good too. We bought this one for our daughter who had the later version that quit working. The later versions of the Swing-A-Way can openers with only a gear on one side and did not last. This unit is just like the original Swing-A-Way and should work for 60+ years!

    American heavy duty can opener - worth a buy.

    We had one of these years ago and I forgot the brand name go figure its a true American made tool. After wasting 100 dollars or so in worthless can openers that last a few months if we're lucky I decided to hunt online. I finally found the type that we used to have and I love it. It has an extra large wheel that cuts so = less turns and faster. with about a 14 gauge frame so its heavy duty and it should last a good 10 years or so. That's about it, give one a try I think you'll be pleasantly surprised

    Looks well made but performs poorly.

    It looks to be a very high quality can opener but looks can be deceiving. If you can get it to go all the way around a can without skipping at least two places, you should buy a lottery ticket because it is your lucky day. I purchased this because it was made in the USA but it was a bad decision on my part.

    Made in the USA Quality!

    Can openers are a kitchen tool that often cause people problems. After my can opener quit half-way through opening a can, I decided to find a good quality one that would last for years. Swing-Away is a brand that's been around since the 1930's, but in 2009 they moved manufacturing to China. I don't know if this has affected their quality, but the older USA-made models seem to sell for more than the newer models. So I looked at EZ-DUZ-IT, a company that's been around since 1954 and based in the USA. I bought EZ-DUZ-IT #88, a model with a carbon-steel cutting blade and made of heavy-duty chromed steel. With the rubberized handles, it easily works with minimal hand strength. It's a classic swing-style can opener with no extra features. The manufacturer recommends wiping or rinsing it ...

    High quality, heavy duty can opener made in St. Louis, MO. U.S.A. by the J Steuby Co. A few flicks of the wrist & it slices through can tops like butter. Actual, real live, stainless steel: unlike the Chinese GARBAGE where 'stainless' means it was not rusty the day they put it in the package.! Do not waste your money on any other brand.
