Purchased as a second phone, same model.Very happy with it.Does everything I need for far less cheaper then current android or "i"crap phones.Rock solid op system, great battery life use 3-5 days or a week on standby.Free Nokia worldwide navigation is a bonus and the maps upgraded regularly.Lots of on-board storage and accept extension micro sd up to 32GB.Camera 12Megapixels fantastic, and the HD video recording (even in low light conditions) amazing with direct HDMI output easy connection. Also great feature to be able to attach/plugin and transfer directly from/to USB devices ( flashdrive/HDD)with its micro USB port.Highly recommend this phone and will by again any time!
I purchased this cell phone because it is one of the last Nokia phones to have a Symbian Operating System developed by Nokia for their handsets. I believe this now less popular operating system may provide me with greater security from the threats designed for more popular cell phone brands operating systems. This phone also sports a 12MP internal camera with inbuilt flash which has made my dedicated digital camera absolutely obsolete. I have installed a Class-10 Micro-SD 32Gb Card in the cell phone on top of the internal 16Gb Memory to help hold music, files and data. I like this phone because it has every application I require preinstaleld or inbuilt into the operating system. I have not needed to spend a single cent to install any new applications or additional software for this cell phone to meet my needs both personally and from a business or professional point of view. The phone has yet to let me down as other more popular brands I have owned did with forced updates which reduced performance and battery life. Application launches and the cell phones responsiveness to my input is instant or almost instant. Should it become necessary I am able to remove a couple of screws and replace the battery unlike my previous cell phone where battery replacement required significant disassembly. The instructions on battery replacement are easily available on the Internet. The battery for this cell phone is easily available from a number of sources at competitive prices. The lifespan for the Nokia N8's battery on average requires a charge every 2-3 days for about 2 hours and has yet to reach a critical point. There is even a LED to provide a visual indication when the cell phone is charged. Other cell phones I have owned reached critical states where the cell phone activates a sleep state where it can not be used until external power input is provided to charge the handset. I am yet to find out if this cell phone has this feature as it has never reached such a state and according to the seller it sat unused and dormant for a year before I purchased it from them as their employer provided a work phone. The appearance, theme and layout of shortcuts, applications or executable icons is completely customisable and I have been able to create a home-screen or main-screen with every application I require on it which has made using this cell phone an absolute breeze. The only downside with this handset is it does not work with "double punch SIM Cards" but I believe all providers of Cellular Communication Networks should be able to provide a "Standard SIM Card" as my provider did when I requested it. Other than the issue with the incompatibility with the "double punch SIM Cards" there has been nothing I have found to dislike about this cell phone. If my cell phone became lost, damaged or even faulty through normal component failure (which occurs with all electrical hardware) then I would not at all hesitate to seek an exact same replacement of a Nokia N8. I have even considered buying another Nokia N8 so I have a fully functional spare and redundancy / backup plan and give away my trusted Nokia N95 8Gb. The price for this cell phone was a bargain considering how well the cell phone performs and meets my needs compared to the outright costs of handsets of all brands both new and second-hand. I imagine sometime soon the Nokia Smartphones with Symbian Software will become collectors items given Nokia no longer develop phones with Symbian Software.Read full review
Great phone but very disappointed with battery life. Don`t think it`s limited to this phone though. Sister got a Nokia Lumia and hers is just as bad. Nokia website claims up to 14 days, lucky to get 2 even if I don`t use it! Battery life always seemed to improve with new models, but not anymore.
this by far the best camera phone I have used , because of the 12MP camera and the xenon flash(which android phones doesn’t have)it makes life easier to capture moment in pitch dark ,i have taken 140 photos within 2 days from this phone, including phone call which none of my other phones were not able to do ,
The Nokia N8 may be a little outdated now, but for the price you can't go wrong. This is my first Smart Phone and I got mainly for the uses it has with its Media content. I especially like the ease of being able to play my Music Files through the FM component of my Car Radio. I can't compare it to other Smart Phones because I have no idea, but I am glad I bought this one.
