      Good tool but ...

If you are taking the crank arms off this works fine but chances are you are doing this to change the bottom bracket or service the bearings. Most replacement bearings are sold as a cartdridge style so removing the outer race and installing requires a completely diferent tool. Beware outer race are reverse thread on one side. Do your homework and have a shop qoute you for the replacement parts and install. All of the proper tools you need add up and may not be worth it for a one shot fix.

    • Quality Tool Removes Crank Without Damage

Don't waste your time on those cheap pullers. I learned the hard way. I stripped out two cranks using those before I bought the CWP-7. On the cheap tools, the thread diameter is substantially smaller than the Park, which means the tool is only gripping half (or less) of the thread. No wonder the threads strip out when you apply pressure to pull the crank off the pedal axle. The Park tool engages the whole thread face so you get a good chance for a successful removal before resorting to heat, hammer, saw and a bit of French.

    • Great crank puller by Park Tool

This is a great crank puller! Works like it was designed to. Works on both square taper cranks and Octalink, probably Isis as well. The tips are switchable, narrow/small for square taper and the large one for Octalink/Isis. All you do is pull off the tip and replace with the other one. A small o-ring keeps them oriented and centered. They have to be perfectly centered to pop back onto the puller but other than that this CWP-7 is a great tool. I could see the o ring is a point of wear and would have to be replaced if they break down. The tip will not be centered if you don't have the o-ring. A well designed tool by Park Tool.

    • Strong and dependable. Superior quality.

After buying one of the cheaper versions by a different manufacturer that claim to do the same thing, this item was able to loosen two tight cranks on an old bike that was given to me. The cheaper version stripped the threads within itself when tightened. This park tool may be a bit more expensive, but you will have a tool that you can depend on for years to come.

    • Perfect Fit

I could have purchased the regular Part Tool CWP-7 and ran across the one labeled "universal" just in case I bought a different mtn bike. The difference with the two are the the two things on the end of the universal one, but the same price for the two so I went with the universal one and a perfect fit,, thanks.....
