I was born the year Lola Albright’s first record was released in 1957, but I just recently became aware of her and her singing. I started watching Peter Gunn on the Roku Channel and was immediately smitten. She was so pretty, and her singing was wonderful. I love this CD, it takes me back to the music I heard growing up. Lola was not a powerhouse singer, she didn’t need to be. Her voice and interpretation was perfection. All the current performers with their high energy choreography and expensive productions could learn a few things from this lady singing with just a few musicians backing her. Sometimes the simple things are the best.

This the complete recordings of TV and movie actress Lola Albright. Both of her albums plus songs she performed on the series 'Peter Gunn', which is a really nice touch to her short recording career. If you are a fan of pop jazz from the 50's or a fan of Blake Edward's incredible film noir series 'Peter Gunn' this will be a real treat. The bonus song are not without some show dialog on the tracks. But songs are all there as you can remember them from the series. And additionally, that dialog does fit the scene from Mother's club. In many instances it is funny and fits nicely.

I think Lola sang with more abandon on the show. She was a little safe on these recordings. The highlight was lyrics to many of the previous "instrumental" only version some of the soundtrack songs.

What a nice discovery. The first 12 tracks are from a very rare & expensive LP.
