This book was both very instructive and a lot of fun. Matt Busch and Tom Hodges did an incredible job illustrating the artwork, and Bonnie Burton was wonderful in highlighting the critical aspects of each piece in a way that makes it easy to recreate (with a little practice). The thing I liked most about this book is that there is such a variety of subject matter and styles. It teaches you how to draw human faces, hands, and bodies, but also how to draw the technology, aliens and monsters of the Star Wars universe. Styles range from classical sketching to inking, painting, manga, and cartooning. I also liked the fact that many of the pictures have subtext that points out details I didn't notice the first time I looked. And the images are as great as any concept art. I'm very happy with my purchase and highly recommend it!Read full review
The book "You Can Draw Star Wars Characters" is an excellent tool to introduce art at a very young age. The book has simple lines for tracing and outlining the numerous Star Wars Characters, but it also includes completion of complex pencil drawing. I love art and want to share art with my grandson who dislikes art, but loves Star Wars. I think this book will encourage my grandson to draw Star Wars figures and hopefully introduce to him the wonderful world of drawing and art.
I liked the fact that this book helped even I draw character within minutes of opening the book. This is for those that love the Star Wars universe and want to start drawing immediately. The sketches are simple to follow and details how to start the basis figure outlines. This had me sketching at my age.
Learning a lot from an incredible how-to book! I'm so glad I bought this! . .
