Based on a Stephen King novella, the psychological thriller SECRET WINDOW is reminiscent of an Alfred Hitchcock film. Eccentric author Mort Rainey (Johnny Depp) finds his life spiraling out of control. With a drinking problem and a cigarette habit he can't shake, Mort can barely function when his wife (Maria Bello) leaves him and he abandons his work. In the midst of his anguish, a deranged man, John Shooter, (John Turturro) appears at Mort's New York cabin, claiming that Mort has plagiarized one of his stories. As his wife pushes Mort to finalize their divorce and Shooter systematically destroys his life, he struggles to restore order to an increasingly insane situation.Playing off of Turturro who is superb as the crazed, Gothic Shooter, Johnny Depp shines in his role with a quirky, brilliant performance. The mannerisms he brings to Mort, such as a problem with a clenched jaw, makes the author's descent into madness compelling and believable. With an emphasis on character study over special effects, the chills provided by this film rely on skilled acting and evoke thrillers of earlier generations like PSYCHO and STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, including a shocking twist of an ending.

    Secret Window took a novella to a full length film that Hitchcock would have loved.

    Picke Stephen King as my Halloween Movie, si this film scared the wits out of me in a psychological thriller way. Johnny Depp went deeply into his character with a perfect villain played by John Turturro. My other favorite character, thanks to great acting, were Sheriff Newsome and Private Investigator Karsh. Amy Rainey character was spookily convincing to the end.

    Was really into the story but the curtain went down early. Won't reveal ending, but I was disappointed. Worth a watch if only to check out John Turturro as stalker John Shooter...the chills are real!

    Love Johnny Depp

    A must for Johnny Depp fans, makes s great addition to your movie library. Lots of twists and turns. A mystery full of surprises. For those that like a good mystery this is a movie you will like. Definition of a thriller to say the least. Highly recommend.

    Great movie!

    This movie is the best thriller I ever watched! Just know it will keep you thinking through the entire show! Johnny Depp plays this character he’s a writer who he supposed to be the character of shooter anyhow you won’t know until the end the whole truth of the story which is really creepy! I have to admit this movie has kept me on my seat and one of those movies it’s really hard for me to watch time time because it’s that creepy it’s still scary even though I had watched it two or three times it still be scary the next time I can guarantee you on it.
