I have to admit I like the shows from this period. McCloud was part of a four-pack of shows, so only one show every four weeks under the banner NBC Mystery Movie. The premise was simple but fun - displaced "cowboy" hits New York and shows them how to do it the country way. But the interaction of the main characters made this show, along with the great shots of New York (or perhaps it was really filmed there. I wouldn't be surprised). Never heard the reason that Mark Richman, Chief Clifford from the pilot movie, was replaced by J. D. Cannon, but it all worked. One plus of looking back at the classic tv shows is that you get to see great guest stars from Hollywood's big screen, plus you can often spot today's stars in their first and often quite minor roles. Back then, they did it without cell phones, internet, and all the tech stuff that usually fills the new tv shows. Back then, it was good basic detecting and lots of shoe leather. I loved this show when it was new and was delighted to find that it now comes on dvd so I can enjoy it all over again. Thanks, Universal, for sharing!!!Read full review

The quality of the dvds are good except for one little glitch, but it's not a big issue. As for the movie, good to have a program the doesn't have all the foul language & massive killings. Back then this is what good tv was, not like today!
