"Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" is the story of one mans experiences inside the intrigue, greed, corruption and little-known government and corporate activities that America has been involved in since World War II, and which have dire consequences for the future of democracy and the world. Amazing history of government corruption

An eye opening history of how big business manipulated the US and other governments in order to get rich. The author reveals devious behind the scenes activities that usually resulted in destruction of foreign human rights. This information should be taught in public schools so that we all are aware of all activities this country is capable of. This type of government corruption should be eliminated. I found this book hard to put down and highly recommend it.

  • The real story is the best story.

This book was the beginning of my understanding of why America gets involved with so much war and that the majority of the masses are not aware of. John Perkins really did a great job yelling his story and the part that he played in our government's take over of other countries of natural resources and wealth, also how it was his job to manipulate statistics to present to foreign leaders and how the military is basically used as the enforcer for privately owned corporations, and how he regrets helping it become what it is today

  • Finally, the Truth

I was so impressed with "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man", I bought it for a friend. This book describes how the author,John Perkins, was sent by his corporation to third world countries to convince them to take out huge loans for programs that would make the author's company rich and put the third world country in perpetual debt to the World Bank when all the rosy promises of econimc proserity didn't come true. According to Perkins, the World Bank is essentially operated by the United States. He states that corporations such as the one at which he was employed have worked closely with our government to form a huge global economic empire of which the average US citizen is totally ignorant. No wonder the world hates us. It's a scary book but one every concerned person should read. It ...

  • It's an interesting volume; you'll not regret buying it

I thought it was a volume based on economic principles. I found it to be a novel, so to speak, that exposed greed, corruption, extortion, cheating, murder, poverty in the availability of abundant resource to make one well-off. All these are carried out by highly financially rewarded professionals who are agents of multinational corporations around the globe. In anycase, it is fascinating. I love it. I will not regret buying a copy for a good friend becasue I will not part with mine.

  • A must-read for all Americans and a REAL history lesson you won't get on TV

A must-read for all Americans. If you've ever scoffed at a 'crazy conspiracy theorist' than you need to read this book more than anyone. Perkins exposes his role in working for, as he calls it, the Corporatocracy that runs the USA. This word brilliantly labels the monster machine that is devouring the world while claiming to be 'spreading democracy' and 'promoting prosperity'. John Perkins has taken part in some horrible activities and, to our benefit, his conscience finally got the better of him. What I respect about Mr. Perkins the most, is that he finishes his books with optimism and recommendations for constructive activities that readers can do to contribute to the sea-change that MUST take place in the citizens of the U.S. if we, as a species, are to survive the 21st century. ...
