About this product

Product Information

The great hats of Dior, as chosen by Stephen Jones, one of the most revered milliners of our times. Christian Dior himself wrote in his Little Dictionary of Fashion "A hat is essential to any outfit. It completes it. In a way, a hat is the best way to express your personality." Published on the occasion of the 2020 exhibition at the Musée Christian Dior in Granville, France, and authored by renowned milliner Stephen Jones, this volume celebrates more than seventy years of exquisite hats. Opening with a focus on hats designed by Christian Dior himself, the book explores the house's headdresses over the years--from the first millinery of the New Look to Yves Saint Laurent's Venetian masks, the toques of Marc Bohan, dramatic boaters by Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano's extravagant confections, the graphic neck bow by Raf Simons, and romantic designs by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Jones's insightful texts are accompanied by contributions from leading experts and enlivened by drawings and photographs from Dior's archives; shots by famed photographers, such as Richard Avedon, Sir Cecil Beaton, and Craig McDean; and exclusive new images by S lve Sundsb .

Reviews
"One more time this reader has been wrong in thinking that there isn't anything more that can possibly be written about this fabled heritage brand and designer, but in this particular instance this reader could not have more thrilled with the content of Dior Hats: From Christian Dior to Stephen Jones! Mr. Jones proves himself as talented and adept with the pen as he is with a hat block. This book is one of the most delightfully written monographs that singles out not only the one aspect of the brand but also the eponymous designer and all those who followed in his footsteps and became part of that orbit." -- NEW YORK JOURNAL OF BOOKS

The pictured item was not received. I contacted the Seller regarding receipt of a lesser quality Bamboo-handled brush, as I paid double in comparison for the "Unique" brush, in addition to $3.99 shipping. However, this Seller was VERY helpful and generous; tried to locate the correct brush. As an apology, they refunded me, AND gifted me the brush I received. I did give 4 stars related to wrong item description. I would definitely order again from this Seller!!!

  • Disappointing text, but some nice eye candy.

Eye candy, not much for the brain. More of a picture book, splashy photos, with some behind the scenes information but not enough, and scant informative insight into Dior himself and his own millinery designs and thought processes about hats. Not a lot on the history of millinery in the house of Dior. Not even a mention of Dior hat label history. Several of the early milliners Dior used are uncredited and left out entirely, and I am not sure why. I had a lot of questions about Dior and hats, and very little was answered in this book. Lots was left out here, with more emphasis on Mr. Jones himself overall. Too much about himself, really. Well he did write it, so that was his choice. I did not buy the book to learn about Stephen Jones. Why didn't he write more about Dior? this ...
