Great phones for Walkie Talkie
Look up Direct Talk ... pretty cool feature for group or family communications. Plus for any travelers heading to countries that have IDEN cellular services, these phones would be a wise choice to toss into your carry on baggage. Something you wouldn't freak over just in case you lost one of these. Rugged ... built pretty tough.

Very good phone, really rugged, but prone to breaking the flip lid/screen.
I bought this phone to replace mine which has a broken flip top. The phone is rugged, except for the flip lid/screen which breaks about every six months. It is also extremely slow to download and display a text message. I originally purchased an i580 phone from Sprint Nextel when it was first offered. It is a "very rugged" phone when it comes to things such as knocking it off a table or having it slip out of a pocket to the ground while repairing a roof. It is "really waterproof" also. Mine has been in many a puddle or stream and once in a shallow part of a lake. I have always taken it out of the water and found it to work. No need to dry it out because the system is sealed. What I do not like about this phone is that the flip top / display breaks about every six months. The cost ... I bought this phone to replace mine which has a broken flip top. When I compare this phone to others I have owned, I like this for being waterprrof, and rugged enough when it is dropped. Best on the market. The replacement model that Sprint Nextel currently offers is reportedly not as rugged and has problems with the waterproof seals. So I will keep buying replacement phones for this model as long as they are available.

This phone has good easy to use features but signal is not very strong. Would be nice if it was a little smaller. I am not a tech wizard and even I could navagate the screens and figure out the features with out much hassle. Over all I like the product and would suggest it for the person like me who is looking for the normal features: bluetooth, camera, 2-way, and phone. I do no text messaging and if that was important to you this is not the phone for you. The rubber outside shell was the main reason for me to purchase this item because I am bad about dropping and breaking phones.This phone has good easy to use features but signal is not very strong. Definately worth the money!!
With boosts limited phone selection the i580 gives boost a beter option. i got my son the i776 and i was dissapointed sadly i also bought the i776w and now need to sell it. The reception is very clear and a easy to use menu. the pictures take too long to load but thats a boost thing i think.I will be upgrading my son to the i580 yellow asap!I love how rugged it is. my husband works on cars and his old cell phone took a real beating he broke the fround glass. i do believe this one will last his hectic work enviroment.it is easy enough for someone who isnt technical as my husband to use he has thanked me so many times he just loves it!! Solid phone, one weakness
These phones are tough!! They have lots of features that are pretty standard for nextel. Great sound and signal. But as with other nextel/motorola phones the belt clip and or phone wears or breaks and the phone will start to fall out alot which will end its life fast. The i580 took 5 months of this abuse, the i560 2 months, i880 1 month. I would recommend not using the included belt clip if you can help it. Once the holder on the phone breaks you need to retire the phone to light non construction duty while using the belt clip. Until then you can't beat this phone.These phones are tough!!
