The FBI v Evil Nazi Spies Just Before WW2
The spies are the criminals in this film noir gem. It takes place on the cusp of WW2 when Nazi spies were running rampant in America. This movie demonstrates how efficiently the FBI dealt with them. The FBI busts up a spy ring that seeks to steal the secrets of the atomic bomb. It's almost in documentary style and is based on factual events. This picture is definitely worth adding to my film library.The spies are the criminals in this film noir gem. It takes place on the cusp of WW2 when Nazi spies were running rampant in America. This is essentially a docudrama. It is interesting because of its historic value about espionage in the United States. But be prepared; it has lots of narration which can be quite boring if this is not what you wanted to see.

one of the BEST WW2 SPY movies~ surpise ending too~
What is a SIGNE Hasso? we find out fast~ LOL this is based on TRUE FBI cases involving recruited and nazi spies in the USA. A young student (William Eythe) of german decent is "recruited" to be a spy. the twist being he is secretly working for the FBI. we see him trained in germany and comes back to the USA and the FBI which was totally with OUT an espionage service until now gains valuable experience and training on espionage activity. along the way we have a dead body with a code book discovered and the search is on for his spy network in the USA. Working out of a dress shop on "92nd Street" is the lovely Signed Hasso (this is her name) as the perfect cover for the Nazi network in New York ...BEST acting in this movie is Lydia St Clair as as ruthlessly hateful Gestapo Agent (yes they ... Lloyd Nolan as the FBI agent in charge has us enjoying all the "gadgets" that at the time were cutting edge spy detection like the use of the ONE WAY MIRROR for filming the nazi network. there are two really good mysteries here....one is "how is he doing it" ..american spy recruited to help "steal" the Info for the PLANS FOR THE ATOMIC BOMB IS ABLE TO sneak it out of the BASE where he is working on it~ excellent~ and WHO IS THE THE MASTERMIND HEAD SPY THE MYSTERIOUS Mr. Christopher~ Mr. Christopher who is not seen until the end of the movie is the mysterious head man in charge of stealing the plans for the ATOMIC BOMB and delivering it to the Nazis. Well written and acted. never drags. on the AMUSING side they used some actual "FBI agents in the movie and they act very stiff and un natural but we get to see the inside of the FBI HQ as it looked in and around WW2 era~ worth this watch for this alone the great theme song keeps us a bit agitated since this is the purpose. I am thrilled they finally released this on DVD if you love SPY movies of this era see the best of the BEST~ see Edward G. Caroll as the Mysterious Colonel very american but also a high class spy too~ I give it a solid 10 out of 10 see also Inside the Third Reich, and the Nightmare Years for some lesser known but good WW2 movies~ if you found this review helpful please remember to vote~
