This SimpoolTec plug keeps the skimmer dry all winter without draining the pool, thus preventing accidents when the basin water is clarified. The device is Rovaseal thermo-insulated and hence creates the ultimate air-tight seal. This offers a superior thermo-elastic water barricade resistant to chemicals, temperature fluctuation, and UV-light, forming a water-tight seal.     what a time saving product for pool closings.

    I was doubtful about buying one of these to close my 22ft above ground pool. Took a chance for 20 bucks and wow. its amazing, not a drop of water through the skimmer. Well worth it to not drain the pool. Bought the tool and cap for the return and now I do not have to order water anymore.

    Did not work for me

    I can't recommend this product-- it did not work for me in an above-ground pool with the Hayward SP1091WM skimmer. The distributor says they don't see problems with this item, but I am forced to returning mine. The unit fits very tightly in the skimmer opening, which is what you'd want, but I had a slow trickle of water consistently coming out of the back of the skimmer when it was in place. Note that this is intended to be used in pools without lowering the water level. In my case this would have leaked enough over time to lower the water level due to the leak. I flipped the unit over to see if maybe it would work in the flipped orientation-- same problem in my situation-- still leaked

    NOT worth the money

    I winterized my pool and put this plug in the skimmer and drained the skimmer. I could see water continued to slowly drain from skimmer. I repositioned plug several times, it's no use over time the water will leak out of the pool. I took out the plug and threw it away.

    Does the job

    Followed the instructions and it pushed right in the skimmer hole. Sealed up tight and the water doesn't leak. It has only been in a couple weeks so I can't talk to the longevity of it but, it seems like good quality.
