I assumed it would be cotton, but I didn't read the full description. It is polyester and is very staticky. After washing, the material sticks to itself and attracts lint and hair. I thought it would be something shiny applied to the fabric, but the design isn't even printed on top of the fabric at all. It is part of the fabric itself and really just looks like the fabric is dyed that way.
