I had never heard of this show "Forever" until I found a "top 10 list" where some writer decided to put together a list of the top 10 voted shows – by a number of fans who watch television – that should get another chance and have another season, etc. When I saw that this show rated higher than Firefly (as a show that people really wanted to see continue after it's short-lived run) I of course had to get it. One of its downfalls might be some of its "detective/cop show/murder themed" parallels to the very wildly successful show, "Castle" (which actually coincidentally stars Nathan Filion from Firefly fame). Just too many parallels that it seems like every episode they are dealing with solving a murder in way too many parallels (into how they keep turning new corners in discovering who the ACTUAL killer is). I would say that Castle has better cinematography, better music and overall slightly better production value. But I REALLY like the story & science fiction element of Forever (which is the only thing - Usually - Lacking in episodes of Castle). The main Character is played by an actor who is top notch as well as Judd Hirsch who plays his "son." The other actors in the show are passable (some of the guest stars are terrific though). In any event in the end I definitely give this 5 stars, so far (I'm on I think episode 6 or so)Read full review

Dvd series' are a great way to re-enjoy the shows after they have gone off the air, or if you don't want to sit through reruns. For Forever this is more towards the first, the series was very engaging, and this dvd series is no different. The menu selection is really one of the best I've seen in a while, and it really doesn't strain to allow you to flow through the options. The episodes are as clear, and crisp as they were on TV, and all in all it is just wonderful. If I had to find one thing that does bother me it's the way the discs are stored. Having the discs stacked slightly on top of each other is a bit of a pain, cause if you want to get one certain disc oi=ut, you have to pull another first. Though that's the only problem this has, It's something that can be ignored. This is a definite if you are a fan of the series(since only one season was ever made).Read full review

Simply an excellent choice of characters, quite enjoyable and intelligent, another one season show which is better than anything else out on the network. This show had a brilliant premise, of doctor who has lived for 200 years, and cannot be killed, not a credible premise, but played delightfully by Ian Gioffrod, Alana De la Garza, play the NYC detective, simply the most credible female detective they've ever put on a cop show, the two of them have great chemistry, not to mention Ian's assistant as medical examiner, one of the funniest forensics you've ever seen it should've played 12 seasons for my taste. you've got to go outside the network these days to find good intelligent, and delightful shows these days, the masses want blood, guts, and dirt and they're plenty happy with that

I overpaid for this series because I liked Alana De La Garza. She's cute and is a very talented actress. Ioan Gruffudd aka Mr Fantastic and Judd Hirsch are likewise solid actors so you'd think with all that talent the series would be great? I think Forever has a moderately compelling story with great actors but seems lacking in some regards. For comparison I think The Mentalist is a better series except for the last season. I'd recommend buying Forever if you can pay under $20 and maybe try and just enjoy strong actors but without the greatest storylines.

This show was professionally prepared and glad at least it got 22 episodes on ABC. Should have had closure for many fans world wide with at least had a 2 hour finale. Just another dumb move by ABC like cancelling "Body of Proof", "Castle" and "Nashville". Wish the DVD was in Blu-ray. I call this show "Castle-Lite". The male star was actually in a "Castle" episode. Alana has moved on to CBS and has been seen in 2 shows, "Scorpion" (briefly) and "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" which has been renewed.
