    rivetting read

    This is a supremely compelling study of the social and political environment of a time when, as a newly married family man, I had too many daily concerns to notice the bigger picture. Although I remember the isolated details this author is putting them together with the hindsight lent by distance. A fascinating read for anyone alive and aware at the time.

    History in a familiar way

    I am interested in this period of history & can remember a lot of it. It is written in a style I like. The author just states facts in a readable fashion. I have read a lot of his books & so I am familiar with his style of writing.
