Motorhead first formed in 1975 but endured many turbulent formative years before settling on the lineup of Lemmy Kilmister, "Fast" Eddie Clarke, and Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor. Throughout these early years and later ones, it was bassist and singer Lemmy who really brought the band together, remaining in the band long after many members departed. It was the band's fourth effort, 1980's ACE OF SPADE, that really set Motorhead apart from other acts. The album pushed speed, volume, and heaviness to the extreme, establishing Motorhead as a leader of the New Wave of metal emerging in Britain in the early 1980s. As part of the CLASSIC ALBUMS series, this documentary features song and video clips from ACE OF SPADES, accompanied by insightful interviews with band members, managers, producers, and fellow musicians, including Metallica's Lars Ulrich and Guns 'N' Roses' Slash, among others.

I Wish Philthy Phil Would Shut the Hell Up
I bought this DVD, primarily, to listen to Lemmy's perspective of the recording. Say what you want, Lemmy IS Motorhead. What I didn't anticipate was Fast Eddie Clarke's insightful comments and how f#*king annoying Philthy Phil Taylor would be. He reminded me of a child who missed his Ritalin pill and he clearly had nothing to bring to the table. The road crew's comments and the opinions of others were humorous and insightful as well. Lemmy is, of course, Lemmy. He smokes like a chimney, drinks bourbon and Coke (you have to appreciate a bourbon drinker) like a fish and plays a bad ass Rickenbacker through Marshalls. His gravelly voice, non-challant attitude and humour give him the iconic touch. I would have gave this dvd an excellent rating, if not for the drummer Phil's senseless ramblings. Lemmy makes up for it though. the bonus clips are worth the purchase price alone. great stuff for any fan of Lemmy / Motorhead
