About this product

Product Information

The how of Pooh? The Tao of who? The Tao of Pooh ? In which it is revealed that one of the world's great Taoist masters isn't Chinese--or a venerable philosopher--but is in fact none other that that effortlessly calm, still, reflective bear. A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh While Eeyore frets, and Piglet hesitates, and Rabbit calculates, and Owl pontificates, Pooh just is. And that's a clue to the secret wisdom of the Taoists.

    Refreshing, light read.

It's a refreshing, light read blending Taoism with "Pooh mentality". No strenuous deep thinking required to understand 'living Tao' rather than 'studying Tao' with Pooh demonstrating this difference. Well-written, my opinion!

  • Pooh's simplicity is a shining example.

I read this book about 1993 and a number of times since. I found Pooh's simplicity as a shining example of a way of life rather than a lack of strength or character. Looking at the Tao using Pooh's character as example, I found I could easily relate to the life changing values I found. This is really no joke at all. Deep consideration of the simple phrase 'haste is a form of violence' changed much in my approach to the day and, over time, my approach to life. It started with the simple idea that, when I leave for work five minutes late, I had better GET to work five minutes late. No longer driving like mad, I did not inconvenience others on the road with my 'me first' attitude. 'Me first' is something that has been greatly diminished in my life [although it does crop up time-to-time]. ...

  • Excellent, a great read and uplifting!

Hello, first you should know I love to read. So for me this was a wonderful find. I read this book about ten years ago. I was just browsing through ebay and stumbled across this book that I really enjoyed reading. I thought to myself it would be a wonnderful addition to my book shelf. Well what I liked about this particular book was the price and quality. As I stated earlier it is a great read that makes you think about the traits we have and use in our everyday lives. If anyone needs a little break from reality this is the book for you!

  • A Charming Introductiont to Taoism

Western culture may dominate our history in many ways, but certainly not all. In this lighthearted introduction to Taoism, the author teaches us with parables about Taoism. It is playful, funny and witty and any reader will be pleased with this quick read; likely taking away some wisdom and a smile.

  • Good
