Mr. Majestic is probably my favorite movie of all time. I first saw it as a teenager when it first came out in 1974. It is a great action film made before the days of computer enhanced graphics which make it a timeless classic. I love the story line of a simple farmer trying to do his best when faced with intimidation from the mob and eventually a professional hit man obsessed with killing Vince Majestyk, played by Charles Bronson in, for me, the best role of his career. It has a great turn of events as the hit man learns that instead of his nemisis being an easy target, he is actually a decorated vet with combat experience in Viet Nam who is fully cabable of fielding the threats made against him, and ultimately prevails at great cost. This movie is a must see for any Bronson fan, but, moreover a great american tale where the good guy wins. Bronson's character is the tough, no nonsense, gritty guy you would definitely want in your corner. This movie also deals with prejudice and even has a bit of a love story built in. No matter what you take away from this film, the chase seen may be your favorite part, and was hailed as one of the greatest chase seens of all time and ranks right up there with the French Connection and Bullitt in this regard. If you like high-tech modern imagery in a modern setting this movie may not be for you. But if want an action packed, gritty story of a regular man prevailing against tremendous odds using his pure country toughness, common sense, and combat training, you owe it to yourself to see this timeless classic. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.Read full review
Charles Bronson (Death Wish, Breakheart Pass, Red Sun, Raid on Entebbe, etc) plays Vince Majestyk who is a Vietnam Veteran and US Ranger instructor who has returned from the military and is trying to get his watermelons on his farm picked so he can take them to market. Majestyk finds his peaceful existence shattered when racketeers threaten him after he refuses their demand to replace his migrant workers with their people. When the law get involved, things go from bad to worse as Majestyk is jailed with a mobster named Renda--and the movie becomes a personnel fight between Renda and Majestyk--while also continuing to try to get his melons to market. A very good movie that is directed by Richard Fleischer who has many hits (Red Sonja, Conan the Destroyer, The Jazz Singer, Soylent Green, etc). If you like action and adventure or if you are a collector of Charles Bronson movies then you will certainly enjoy this one-and it will give most people a great night of entertainment-even if you have saw it before. Certainly, of Bronsons best movies.Read full review
Vince Majestyk is a melon farmer in California. He has gambled it all on his melon crop, 200 acres of big, fat melons. The window for picking and shipping to market is a narrow one, and now that it is time to harvest, local thugs move in and take over the labor market. If you don't hire them, you won't find anybody to pick your melons. They threaten violence against anybody who tries to resist. Majestyk isn't afraid of them and won't be pushed. When they try to push him, he pushes back, - hard! He is arrested and put in jail. All he wants to do is harvest his melons. While in jail, he is in a cell with a notorious hitman who is being held for trial. While being transferred to the county jail, the hitman's friends attempt to break him out. Bronson escapes with the hitman handcuffed to his arm. He takes the guy and makes a deal with the cops to turn in the hitman if they let him go long enough to pick his melons! They agree, but he makes an enemy of this guy. The hitman, Frank Renda (Paul Lettieri) escapes with the help of his girlfriend and swears vengeance on Vince. With the help of his associated, Renda comes after Vince. That is a mistake. Vince is a veteran and a Medal of Honor winner, not the kind of guy you want to mess with. Renda and his group all learn this the hard way. . . This is a good movie. The story isn't all that great, but Bronson is so methodical and such a bad-ass that you become mesmerized and find yourself pulling for him.Read full review
Good to still be able to get these movies. Watching These let you know how Charles Bronson was the most popular actor over seas for years. No one like him just like Eastwood.

I have such a good husband . He wanted this video for his Mothers' birthday. He said he was with her one day recently when she was telling him about how she liked this movie because of the watermelon scene. She is elderly and had watched almost the whole thing before her power went out and she missed that scene. Something about the cowboy shooting the melons off the fence. He asked me to find it for her so she could watch it whenever she wants. Unless we have another power outage due to storms. They are both pleased and that makes me happy too. I never expected to find this movie new and unopened.
I never thought a watermelon owner could take down a criminal while the local police are incompetent.

This movie is a standard action movie with Charles Bronson. Still it's better than average because of the cool play by Charles Bronson and the excellent supporting cast. The acting by stars Al Lettieri and Pauk Koslo as a bunch of creepy gangsters is convincing and the female co stars Linda Cristal and Lee Purcell have small but nice little parts. The picture quality of this movie on DVD is very good, there is little dust and grain visible. No extra's which is a shame because there must have been a trailer and a featurette available easily!
it is a5 star from us. we loved it and will watch it again in a few days. thank you
